The 2026 Fall Registration for Big Walnut Soccer Association Middle School Recreational League is NOW OPEN! When registering, please use the grade your child is currently in Fall/2026.
Registration: Now Open through July 24th, 2026
How Teams are Formed: Players registering will be placed on a team which are drawn randomly by grade and the leveled by experience.
Recreational Age Divisions: Teams will be formed by grade levels and will be determined by number of registrants.
The Middle School recreational league will play against other recreational Middle School teams in our neighboring communities. All children in the 7th and 8th grade must participate in the Middle School League.
Where & When Do We Play: Practices usually begin in mid-August depending on the weather and how quickly we can find coaches and set teams. Historically, finding enough coaches has been an issue. Please consider volunteering to coach your child’s team. Games typically begin around the first of September and should conclude by the end of October. The Middle School team home fields will be located Hylen Souders Elementary School, 4121 Miller-Paul Road, Galena. Away games will be played in our neighboring communities.
Uniforms & Equipment: We will provide uniforms for all players. Players must supply their own cleats, soccer ball and required shin guards. Cleats must be soccer, no other type are permitted. Metal cleats are not permitted. Middle School soccer uses a size 5 ball.

Recreational Age Divisions: Teams will be formed by grade levels and will be determined by number of registrants. Typically, Pre-Kindergarten is coed, other age groups are not. Typical age groups have been PreK, K, 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6.
Pre-school children must turn 4 by August 1st, 2026 of the current year to be eligible to play.
Some age groups of the recreational league may play against other recreational teams in our neighboring communities.

Most games will be played on Saturdays and some Sundays. There could be an occasional weeknight game during the season. Saturday games will begin between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. Sunday games will be in the afternoon. Games for the younger age groups and home games for the older age groups are typically played a Hylen Souders Elementary School, 4121 Miller-Paul Road, Galena. All age group games could be played in our neighboring communities depending on scheduling.
Uniforms & Equipment: We will provide jerseys for all players. Players must supply their own shorts, socks, soccer cleats, soccer ball and required shin guards. Metal cleats and all others are not permitted. Tennis shoes are not permitted for the Recreational League.
PreK, K, & Grade 1-2 should use a size 3 ball.
Grades 3-6 should use a size 4.
Big Walnut Eagles & Lady Eagles - 2025 Youth Soccer Camp
Big Walnut Eagles and Lady Eagles Soccer teams are excited to offer their annual youth camp for 2025. Their camp will offer young soccer players a chance to build their soccer skills and confidence while having fun. Each registered camper will receive a camp T-shirt.
Youth campers will be instructed daily by members of the Big Walnut HS Eagles and Lady Eagles soccer teams with oversight and help from the coaching staff.
Dates: June 23-25, 2025

Freedom SC & BWSA Attacking Skills Soccer Camp
The Freedom SC & BWSA Attacking Skills Soccer Camp Registration is NOW OPEN! The Freedom SC & BWSA Skills Soccer Camp will Focus on Small Group Attacking, Finishing, Speed, (1v1) Moves, Receiving and Passing. Each camp attendee will receive a T-shirt.
Dates: June 8th – June 11th
Who: For Boys and Girls Ages: 7 to 14
Experience: Recreational and competitive level players. Instruction is tailored for both skill levels
Where: Souders Elementary School, 4121 Miller Paul Rd, Galena, OH
Cost: $85 if registered before May 24th, 2026 / $99 after early registration (Registration includes the BWSA player fee and the credit card processing fee)

- Small group attacking – Exercises and games that improve creativity with the ball in 2v2 and 3v3 situations

Freedom SC & BWSA Winter Skills Soccer Camp
BWSA and the Freedom Soccer Club is offering soccer skills training during the winter of 2026.

Who: Recommended for all girls and boys born 2015-2019 who enjoy playing soccer and want to improve their soccer skills. (Girls and boys born 2012-2014 should email freedomsoccr@yahoo.com for other registration info.)

Cost: $110.00 for all eight sessions and a shirt. Part of the proceeds will be donated to the Church. (Registration closes Friday, December 5th or when the registration is full.)
Coaches: The Freedom Soccer Club professional coaches will conduct the training.
Focus: Improving the technical ability of each player in a fun and age appropriate setting.
Benefits: With better technique, skills will improve and players will begin to show confidence with the ball. Confidence with the ball will promote creative play and good decisions.

What is Futsal?: Futsal is exciting small-sided soccer, played indoors on a smaller field, with a smaller, low-bounce ball.
Registration: Now Open through January 2nd, 2026
Benefits of Futsal: It is fun! It improves players’ decision making skills; provides players with more touches on the ball; develops confidence and allows players to be creative in their play.
What to expect: Players show up, form teams, and play futsal. Some guidance is provided as needed by the Freedom SC coach, but there will be NO coaching.
